William Ray Sloop

Obituary: William Ray (Bill) Sloop, 77, of Kannapolis, N.C. died Thursday September 5, 2013. He was born December 22, 1935 in Rowan County. He was the son of the late Clarence Brady and Veda Mae Barbee Sloop. He was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School and educated as a Mechanical Engineer. He worked for Associated Surveys, drawing maps for several counties throughout NC. He later worked in the Engineering Departments of Douglas Aircraft and Duke Power Company in Charlotte, NC. Later he left the engineering profession for sales, representing several lines of Ladies clothing. His sales office was in the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sloop Jones, her husband, Micky of Cherryville, NC and their two daughters, Brie and Maggie; his son, Steven Ray Sloop and his two sons, William and Christopher of Kannapolis and Murphy, NC; Two brothers, Jerry Sloop of Oak Island, NC and Mike Sloop of Concord, NC. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home, Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 1-3:00 pm. Burial will be private.
