William "Bill" Smith

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC William "Bill" Neal Smith, 76, of Kannapolis passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born September 4, 1937 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Roy Neal Smith and Ruby Donaldson Smith. Bill had formerly worked at Cannon Mills for over 35 years in the Machine Shop. He then worked and retired from the City of Kannapolis Water and Sewer Department. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Concord. He loved hunting and fishing. Bill also adored his beloved pet cat, "Missy". Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 6th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Concord officiated by Rev. Don Shumann. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Bill is survived by his wife, Peggy Brown Smith, and a brother, Carl Smith of Oakboro. He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
