William Glenn Smith, Jr.

Obituary: William "Bill" Glenn Smith, Jr., 72, of Kannapolis passed away on January 8, 2017 at CMC-Main in Charlotte. He was born August 31, 1944 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late William Glenn Smith, Sr. and Alice Blackwelder Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Eugene Smith, Sr. Bill had worked for Pleasant's Hardware in Charlotte for many years as a salesman. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He loved to walk through the woods and collect arrowheads. In his earlier years, he enjoyed surf fishing and racing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Whitley's. He is survived by two daughters, Billie Smith Henry (Donald), Dawn Smith Johnson (Joey), grandchildren, Allison Johnson, Ashley Henry, Emma Henry, Denton Henry and a sister, Glenda Hunter.
