Obituary: William James Stewart, 78, of Kannapolis, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Five Oaks in Kannapolis. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 3rd at the Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors, and the Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday June 2nd at Whitley's Funeral Home. William was born July 21, 1937 in Cabarrus Co. to the late James Lonie Stewart and Margaret Louise Godfrey Stewart. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War, after serving his country he became an electrician for Cannon Mills, he also worked as a safety coordinator for Pro-tech. He was the owner/operator of the Dog House. William enjoyed classic cars, drag racing and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a nephew David Godfrey Stewart Jr. in 1986. Those left to cherish his memory, a brother David Stewart (Carolyn) of China Grove, a niece Lees Ann Sellers (Eddie), two great nephews J'Michael Howell and J'Daniel Howell (Amanda).
