William Vaughn Moore

Obituary: William Vaughn Moore passed away November 10, 2012 at his home in Smithfield, Utah. He lived to the great age of 88. He was born December 26, 1923 to William Robert and Geneva Pantha Moore in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vestal Archie and Berlie Wilburn, his wife Goldie Ball (married for 71 years and 4 days before her passing), and four of their children, three boys and a girl who died in infancy or in their early years, Edward Eugene, Archie Alvin, Terry Royal, and Lisa Kay. He is survived by Laura Lucille Windsor (Bill), Wayne Leon Moore (Cheryl), Roger Aldridge Moore (Shelly) and Keith Alan Moore (Linda). Vaughn's posterity includes 34 grandchildren, 105 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren at the time of his passing. He lived an exemplary life. He was honest in every way. His family and his religion played a great part of his life. He was devoted to his faith in Jesus Christ, which he exemplified by his service to his country, his fellowmen, and especially to his family. He served twice as the Bishop of the Kannapolis Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many other positions in the church throughout his life, and actively participated in all facets of his religion. In 1944, Vaughn was drafted into the Army during World War II. He spent time in Germany, in the Philippines, and in Japan. Upon completion of his duty to country, he received an honorable discharge. William Vaughn Moore left a wonderful legacy for his family. Matthew 7:20 "Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them." His life is best known by his fruits. As his children, we were blessed with wonderful parents. They set an example for us in all they did - in the way they lived their everyday lives. Vaughn left a legacy of faith, service, obedience, respect, gratitude, and in every other way exemplified his Savior Jesus Christ. We know dad was lonely without mom and we're happy for them that they can be together again. The funeral service will be held on 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1255 Julian Road, Salisbury, NC officiated by Bishop Stephen R. Hiatt. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military rites conducted by the Cabarrus County, Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.
