William Mac Fite, affectionately known as “Mac”, 96, of Kannapolis went into his heavenly home on Sunday, February 9, 2020.
Mac was born on September 18, 1923 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Nallie Fite and Nettie Wright Fite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Reba Lovelace Fite in 1990 and three brothers, Henry Fite, George Fite, and Hal Fite.
Mac proudly and honorably served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, having fought in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge Campaign. He was a Bronze Star recipient and a Purple Heart recipient, among many other decorations and medals. After his military service, he had a long-spanning career as a Service Manager and Auto Parts Salesman for Hilbish, Young and Keeter Ford. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. Mac was a faithful Christian and put God above all in his life. He was an active member of Brookdale Baptist Church, where he served as a treasurer, deacon, and choir member. He was also a family man, and had a deep love and dedication to his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Patsy (Robert) Cline and Carolyn (Johnny) Harwood; son, Michael (Terri) Fite; four grandchildren, Tracey (Mark) Shanks, Mark Harwood, Dustin Fite and Dillon Fite; two great-grandchildren, Carter Shanks and Emmett Fite; brother, Jim Fite; brother-in-law, George Lovelace; sister-in-laws, Virginia Riddle and Edna Cooper; and special friend, Jewell Robinette.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Brookdale Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Barnette and Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookdale Baptist Church, 2511 S Ridge Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
