Willie Mae Graybeal

Obituary: Willie Mae Graybeal, age 107, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home. She was born August 22, 1907 in Wilkes County, NC, the daughter of the late Jarrod Wyatt and Lela Wyatt Beshears. She was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Winder Room and had been with the company for forty-nine years. She was also the oldest charter member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church, China Grove, NC. Her family remembers her love of gardening and she would shame the younger folks around her when she would bring out her five-gallon bucket and string beans and shuck corn practically all day long. She was a wonderful cook making home-made biscuits, chicken & dumplings, and gravy for her family. She also taught all of the women in her family how to cook. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Arnold Roberts in 1938 and her 2nd husband, Seldon Graybeal who died in 1990; two daughters, Myrtle Jean Aldridge and Navonia Lee Dixon; three brothers, and one sister. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Curtis Parker and Pastor Randy Tucker. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her son, James R. Roberts, Sr.; and a number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
