Willie Milton Murray, Jr.

Obituary: - Willie M. Murray, Jr., age 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. He was born December 16, 1929 in Franklin County, Georgia, the son of the late Willie M. Murray, Sr. and Patty Hart Murray. Willie had lived in Kannapolis for most of his life. In earlier years he worked for the former Cannon Mills Company. Later, he was employed as a supervisor with General Times, Davidson, NC and retired after thirty years of service to the company. Willie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed NASCAR and traveling. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Cecile Chastain Murray, who died in 2011. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Pastor Matthew Beaver. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 315 East Broad Street, St. Pauls, NC 28384.
