Willie Parker Swanner

Obituary: China Grove- Willie Naomi Parker Swanner, 88, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her home following a period of declining health. Born June 17, 1928 in Iredell County, Willie was the daughter of the late Everette A. and Pearl Iona Greenhill Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers. Mrs. Swanner had retired from Norman's of Salisbury and was of the Baptist faith. She had also been a beautician for many years. A devoted and wonderful wife, mom and grandmother, she was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed ceramics. Mrs. Swanner will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Family members include her husband James Thomas Swanner; her son Jimmy Swanner and wife Ann; her daughters Linda Stirewalt and husband Tony, and Carolyn Vanderburg and husband Ray, all of China Grove; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 2nd from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mrs. Swanner's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Whitley's Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Max Vanderburg.
