Wilma Lucille Riddle Meeks

Obituary: Wilma Lucille Riddle Meeks, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House, Lexington, NC after one year of declining health. She was born March 4, 1929 in Iredell County, NC, the daughter of the late William Roy Riddle and Beulah Elizabeth Farrell Riddle. Wilma was a special, loving, and kind woman. She was a homemaker, raised two sons and several of her own siblings. Took neighborhood children in to raise as her own while raising her own grandson. She loved reading books and working her puzzles. Wilma was a child care provider for six families during a twenty-five year period. She was also a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church. In addition her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Meeks; a son, LCORPL Ricky Lee Meeks; and four sisters. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 6, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Sonny Waller. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home prior to the service. The remainder of the time will be at the home of her son, William F. (Bill) Meeks, Sr. in Spencer, NC. Survivors in addition to her son include three grandsons, Ricky Lee Meeks, Jr. of Concord, NC, James Meeks and Bill Meeks, Jr. both of Burlington, NC; two granddaughters, Stephanie Meeks Everette and Spouse, Enfield, NC and Michelle Meeks Faircloth and Spouse, Lexington, NC; great-grandchildren, Hanna Warren, Michael Warren, Lucas Meeks, Autum Meeks, Cherokee Meeks, McKayla Faircloth, and Tyler Meeks; two sisters, and one brother; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very close friend, Carolyn Meeks Price Craig.
