Obituary: Wilson Emmet Casto, age 85, of Davidson died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home after a period of declining health. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 20 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Easom officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Cabarrus Co. Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, December 19 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Wilson was born January 24, 1924 in Buffalo, WV, the son of the late Walter and Virginia Westfall Casto. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy and a longtime area resident, having moved here with his wife in 1979. He later retired as Teamster Truck Driver. Wilson enjoyed making baskets and frequenting the Senior Citizen Wednesday Night Jam Sessions. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Concella J. Casto of the home and by 4 daughters; Patsy Kerns of Davidson, Donna Campfield of OH, Diane Hunter of AK and Kay Carter-Doty of Kannapolis. Survivors also include 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and by 2 brothers, Herman Casto of WV and John Casto of KY.
