Wynell Bostian Wood, 85, of China Grove, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Wynell was born on March 7, 1937 in Rowan County to the late Charlie Amos Bostian and Elsie Mae Boger Bostian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herman Cuthiel Wood; grandson, Jonathan Wood; and four siblings, J.F. Bostian, Athena Bostian, Marie Smith, and Audy Bostian.
Wynell held many notable job positions over the course of her working career. She was the secretary for C.H. Cannon at Cannon Mills. Later she owned and operated Marathon Restaurant. Prior to retirement, she was the secretary for the vice chancellor of UNC-Charlotte for over 10 years. She was a faithful member of Kannapolis West A Church of God and loved being a part of the Senior Choir.
She loved traveling to the beach and shopping at the local thrift stores, antique shops, and dress boutiques. Another favorite past time of hers was traveling to see lighthouses and visiting the Biltmore House in Asheville. Whenever you went to visit Wynell you would either find her watching Jimmy Swaggert or HGTV, one being her love for Jesus Christ her Savior, and the other which was her hobby of decorating. Wynell was also a very caring, compassionate and loving lady. Most of all she dearly loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Bryan Keith Wood (Teresa) and Gerald Doran Wood (LeAnn); daughter, Kristel Wood Grubbs (Pastor Jeff Grubbs); six grandchildren, Britney L. Wood, Taylor Wood, Trent Wood, Tara Setzer (Luke), Miranda Wood Leazer, and Luke Grubbs; eight great-grandchildren, Levi Wood, Gunner Wood, Gauge Wood, Maddox Wright, Laightyn Wood, Korbett Plisko, Maleah Wood, and Remi Wooten; and a sister, Willaree Beaver.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Kannapolis West A Church of God. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Greg Sloop, Pastor Jeff Grubbs, and Evangelist Patricia Thomas officiating. A committal service will immediately follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
