Zelma Boone Woods

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Zelma Lee Boone Woods, age 68, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She was born May 7, 1944 in Chesterfield County, SC, the daughter of the late John Walker Boone and Rosa Lee Dixon Boone. Zelma was a self- employed personal caregiver helping many people in their homes over the years until her retirement. She also worked at the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc. for several years. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Her family fondly remembers her as a hard worker who loved her family. She was a good cook and loved taking care of her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Rodney Boone. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Allen Woods, Jr.; four daughters, Joyce Ann Watkins, Rhonda Woods Hancock, Donna Louise Hammonds, and Loretta Rose Woods, all of Kannapolis, NC; her son, Johnny Allen Woods of Patrick, SC; and four sisters, Shirley Jackson Rockwell, NC, Frances Skipper of Lexington, NC, Margaret Hinson of Greenville, SC, and Patricia Gulledge of Kannapolis, NC; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.
