Obituary: Zoe Raborn Setzer found peace and joy working in her flower garden and loved sharing her beautiful flowers with others. On December 9th, at age 98, she passed away peacefully to become a beautiful flower in God's celestial garden. Zoe Margaret was born to the late Emma and Henry Raborn in Dallas, North Carolina on April 23, 1919, the eighth of nine children. She was preceded in death by her sisters Nellie, Lois, Minnie, Dulah, Hazel and Evelyn, brothers Ernest and Marvin, and her husband of 70 years, Ralph Setzer. Zoe was an employee of Cannon Mills and Fieldcrest Cannon for 53 years and continued working part-time for American Greetings into her 80s, when she could still outpace many people half her age. Formerly a member of Midway Methodist Church in Kannapolis, where she was a Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout den mother, she became a long-time beloved member of Jackson Park UMC in Kannapolis in 1966, where she taught adult Sunday school classes for years and faithfully attended services well into her 90s. Its oldest member, she loved her church family and they loved her. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Setzer Howard of Kannapolis, son Terry Setzer of Belmont, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her son Terry wishes to thank family friends Terrie and Keats Dellinger, who lovingly and selflessly gave many hours of assistance, support and comfort in his mother's declining years; and special thanks to Nancy Connell, Zoe's roommate, friend and "new sister" during her stay at Transitional Health Services. Funeral services are set for 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 13 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis with Dr. Greg Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina memorial Park. A reception will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Please make memorials in memory of Zoe Setzer to Jackson Park UMC, 715 Mable Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
