Obituary: Kannapolis- Andrew Michael Furr, 32 years of age, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his closest family early Sunday morning, July 7, 2019. He was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in October of last year. Born November 12, 1986 at CMC Northeast in Cabarrus County, he was the son of James Mitchell Furr and Gina Gail Kimberlin. Andrew is survived by his wife, Kristen Huneycutt; his two beautiful children, Austin (age 4) and Keelie (age 10); his parents, James Furr (Lorraine) and Gina Kimberlin; his siblings, Anthony Furr (Jessica), Aaron Furr (Sarah Beth), Dylan Smith, Casey Furr, Katie Zarate, Annie Paszkiel, and much loved extended family members. Andrew was a 2005 graduate of South Rowan High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Kristen. He also attended UNCC for Computer Science. Andrew later started a career in home carpentry, specifically interior trim with Risley-Padula out of Wilmington, NC. He moved back to Kannapolis to take care of his wife during her battle with renal failure and took a job with Interior Woods, which he grew to love as family. He valued his job and you could tell in his product. He was a tremendously gifted carpenter. Andrew was also a devoted father, always doing everything he could to provide for his family. He cherished and loved both of his children, Austin and Keelie, very much. He was an exceptional husband, never straying from his vows and always standing behind Kristen through her toughest times. He valued family and friends and was always looking out for others before himself. He was a devoted Christian and held a strong faith in God and you could see the glory shine through just being around him. He loved to make people laugh and was always the life of the party. Andrew loved being outdoors, fishing, travelling, cruising, and enjoyed his video games. In his earlier years, he was involved in organized baseball and was a gifted skateboarder, both of which he enjoyed with his twin brother, Anthony. Memorial services to remember and celebrate the life of Andrew will begin at 11:00am on Thursday, July 11 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Debra Tadlock and Pastor Andy Williamson. The family will speak with friends following the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to a trust fund for his children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home for donations.
