Joy Adams (Crainshaw) Purser

Joy Crainshaw Adams Purser, 71, of Kannapolis, passed away Monday morning, July 24, 2023, at her home, following a period of declining health.

Born February 29, 1952, in Cabarrus County, Joy was a daughter of the late Charlie and Allie Mae Graham Crainshaw.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Adams Storie, a brother, Randy Crainshaw and son-in-law, Marty Storie.

Joy had earlier worked for Kannapolis Glass, later working for more than 25 years as an agent with Nationwide in Kannapolis. She enjoyed being at the lake, riding her motorcycle and being with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her much loved grandson, Joshua. A loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Purser will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members left with cherished memories include her devoted husband, Tommy Purser; her grandson, Joshua Storie; sister, Susan Hathaway and husband, Chris; her loyal and much- loved Labradors, Jaxson and Dakota; beloved nieces and nephews, Angela O’Kelly (Richard), Randy Crainshaw, II (Laura), Jeremy Hathaway, Deneen Sellers (Jeff), and Derek Funderburk (Jeana); a number of great nieces and nephews, and her special lifelong friend, Glenda Grover.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday evening, July 26th at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Thursday in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Reverend Neal Jones, Pastor, Mt. Olivet UMC, and Mr. Curtis Ballard.  Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
