Sandra Kay (Fry) Martin

Sandra “Sandy” Kay Fry Martin, 69, of Kannapolis, peacefully passed away Monday morning, June 26, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, following a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Born March 5, 1954, in Cambria County, PA, Sandy was a daughter of the late Leland Beck and Margaret Ethel Hopkins Fry.  In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were a sister, Linda Davis and brother, Lanny Fry.

Sandy had retired after 40 years of dedicated nursing, having spent 20 years as a hospital nurse and 20 years as a triage nurse. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sandy loved God, her family and country. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and canning. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Much loved family members include her husband, John Martin, Jr; her children, Amanda Rhodes (Blaine) and David Hilton (Adrienne); her step daughters, Christy Johnston (Billy) and Connie Mann (Bob); her sisters, Doris Fry Matthews and Sharon Fry Lydic (Tom); grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail, Will, Dylan, Somer, Cole, Charlie, Logan and Stokes; her great grandson, Benji; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A memorial service to remember Sandy will begin at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 29th at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by David Crisp.  The family will speak with guests following the memorial service.
